Jewelry artist Shauna Zeck is inspired by what is always surrounding her: earth, sky and water. She honors her Lakota heritage by listening to Uncis, the Grandmothers, understanding what it means to be patient and letting her beadwork "speak". Her one-of-a-kind hand beaded jewelry is refreshingly unique and vibrantly beautiful. Self taught in this art form, Shauna studied several different nations of Native American beadwork to learn how to interpret and construct traditional ways of beading. Today, her work reflects her earliest studies. Shauna uses her beadwork to bridge the present to the past, she says, “I don’t tell my hands what to bead or how, that comes from Uncis, the Grandmothers.”
